There are many differences between ruminant and non-ruminant and poultry digestive tracts. Poultry digestion doesn't start in the mouth. Unlike in ruminants and nonruminants where the digestion begins once the food enters the body through the mouth. Instead of having a big stomach to store food they have different organs that mstore the food. As food passes through through their body there are multiple organs that digests the food. As the food passes through these organs it acts as a "temporary stomach". Poultry's digestive systems are also a lot less effective. The poultry's digestive system doesn't store food in one place for long periods. This doesn't allow for the body to absorb many nutrients from the food. So, poultry have to eat very nutrient dense foods.

There are also many differences between the Ruminant and Non-Ruminant digestive tracts. Most of these differences are when it comes to the stomach. A Non-Ruminant stomach is structured as a tank that holds all food, digesting it as food sits in it. A Ruminant digestive tract stomach is much more complicated. It's separated into four sections, the omasum, the rumen, the reticulum, and the abomasum. These four parts work together to digest, break down, and filter harmful things out of their food.
